In a British accent, the two words sound similar enough!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Hindicized pronunciation of &amp;#39;Thailand&amp;#39; is थाईलैंड. The English pronounce it as टाइलॅंड / ठाइलॅंड. The sounds of थ, ढ़, ध, etc. are not present in the English alphabet.
