MADRAS and CHENNAI both ! Found it tougher than usual- Had to reveal a few answers

Incidentally both MADRAS and CHENNAI appear in Chaturvasi(Rishi)'s profile pic in addition to INDIA.

Hi Kishore

I am midway through so far and enjoying it very much. My hometown is there too :)

12a is brilliant, isn't it?

Shuchi,
How come I can't see the crossword? I just get a blank space where the CW is. Does the site need registration?

Shuchi said...

Do you have JRE installed? Normally all computers have it already. Try another browser like IE or Chrome, sometimes that works.

Otherwise, you can download and install JRE from
here, then open the page.

No registration needed. The interactive crossword should appear in that space on the page.

I was trying it on Firefox didn't open there, but it has opened in IE.

I am pretty sure that Gridman has been given an opportunity to set this crossword in the Independent.

Madras, Chennai, Tamil and a reference to 319 made by Sehwag at the MAC - all clues point to the TN-loving genius!

Shuchi said...

@Anonymous: The setter's name has been credited on the crossword, so the Gridman theory has to be ruled out :)

Oops! My obsession with Gridman's roots caused this oversight, I believe! But the theory can be refuted otherwise as well, for there is no 'Erode' ;)...

I had imagined 12A to be a E clue till I saw your comment. I had put down Sehwag as soon as I saw 319, being a great fan of him myself! A gem of a clue, really!
